It’s official – break out the champagne!! The U.S. State Department just announced that it would delay making a decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline until after it had undergone extensive further review, including a search for an alternate routing. Yes, this is the same decision that PM Harper called a “no-brainer”. Tar Sands Action just posted this reflection:

Tar Sands Action: Big News: We Won. You Won
Terrific news! Something to celebrate at last! Take notice Canada, we don’t have to roll over and accept the fact that our tax dollars are paying oil corporations huge tax subsidizies while they squander precious resources and pollute our water, and while our government decides which social programs to cut next.
Exactly – if we decide to use our power as the majority – the 99%! – change will come. And it’s about time!
