Every climate activist I know is disappointed in Barrack Obama’s lack of action on climate change during his nearly 4 years in office, but – after being mocked by Mitt Romney for his big promises to act on this issue – President Obama did finally mention climate change on national television yesterday during his address to the Democratic National Convention. Let’s hope this signals an end to his allergy to both the term “climate change”, as well as the urgent need to act on it.
Joe Romm over at Think Progress had this to say about last night’s speech:
It looks like Romney’s mockery of Obama’s 2008 pledgeof climate action had one positive impact.
At the 2012 Democratic National Convention, President Obama said tonight to a large national TV audience:
And yes, my plan will continue to reduce the carbon pollution that is heating our planet – because climate change is not a hoax. More droughts and floods and wildfires are not a joke. They’re a threat to our children’s future. And in this election, you can do something about it.
Worth filling up a couple of shot glasses, I’d say — though repeating the denier “hoax” frame is not the way to debunk it.

I pray this is more than just politics!
I’ll second that!
Agreed. It’s very hard to take him at this word, after the last four years as well as his “all of the above” position on energy.
He’s a problem to be solved. With Obama, there’s a possibility of movement, and co-operation. With Romney, not so much. At least Obama is awake.
“I’m not in this race to slow the rise of the oceans or to heal the planet.” – Mitt Romney, on Meet the Press.
LOL – if I was at home, I’d put that on a picture of Mitt and share it!
